Wall Framing Tips
- 16" OC is standard for load-bearing walls and most applications
- 24" OC can be used for non-load bearing interior walls
- Double top plate is standard; joints must be staggered by 4'+
- Headers: 2x6 for up to 4' span, 2x8 for 5', 2x10 for 6', 2x12 for 8'
- King studs run full height beside openings
- Jack studs support headers (trimmer studs)
- Cripple studs fill above/below openings
- Add 10-15% for waste and culls
